Scholarship Establishment

Establishing a scholarship through the Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation can be extremely rewarding because of the direct impact it has on young men and women during their formative high school and college years. Through scholarships, donors can memorialize loved ones or even their own experiences within the Simmental breed. These scholarships and who or what they represent will forever be a part of future Agriculture generations. Donors can establish a scholarship that benefits particular students or groups of individuals. We invite your earnest consideration of this effective and personal means of support. The benefits of creating a scholarship can last a lifetime, for both the donor and for the scholarship recipients.

Types of Scholarship Funds

Often donors will tailor their scholarships to suit their personal interests and passions. By working with the FCSF Board of Directors, donors can support students for their academic achievement, or support students who otherwise would not be able to attend a college or university.

Expendable fund: A scholarship without an endowed account may establish an independent expendable account for scholarship awards. A scholarship account is created and contributions are deposited to that account. Distributions are made from the account in accordance with criteria established by the donor and approved by the FCSF Board of Directors. The scholarship will be awarded each year until the fund is depleted.

Endowed scholarship: A minimum contribution perpetually funds an endowed scholarship. The amont eligible for this fund to be discussed between the board of directors and the donator.

With both expendable and endowed scholarships, the donor names the fund and establishes the selection criteria within the parameters already set-forth by the FCSF

Regardless of how you choose to fund a scholarship, you will be richly rewarded with the knowledge that your support helped make it possible for a young man or woman to attend college or university.

Memorials

Memorial Gifts may be given to the Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation in memory of a loved one, friend or associate involved in the Simmental breed, the beef industry or agricultural community.

Giving to the Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation is a great way to show the love and appreciation of an individual or loved one. A gift to the FCSF in memory of an individual will allow their passion and love for the Simmental breed to live on by supporting programs that provide inspiration and leadership for our Simmental youth involved in the continuation of our great breed.

Memorials can be established by identifying the Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation as the noted receiver of memorials at the time of death of a loved one or friend. There is no minimum amount required to establish a memorial fund in a loved one’s memory. The giver will receive an official letter recognizing their tax-deductible gift was received by the FCSF in the stated person’s memory. In addition, the family for whom the memorial has been given will receive an official letter notifying them of the memorial gift and from whom the memorial gift was received.

Endowments

Endowments that are awarded for specific purposes can be established through the Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation to provide funding for scholarships, specific programs, or awards through the National Young Canadian Simmental Association.

One of the purposes of the Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation endowment fund is to provide youth who have been involved in junior activities the opportunity to receive a scholarship to further their education, recognize them for their achievement or provide funding for specific programs of the National Young Canadian Simmental Association.

Eligibility and criteria of the applicant are a collaboration of the FCSF Board of Directors, individual, family or group giving the award.
